Size Guide
Everything we print and embroider starts as a blank from a UK trade supplier, so sizing follows the brand of that particular garment rather than one house standard. Here is how to get it right first time — and how to get exact figures from us before you order.
How Our Sizing Works
Every item we print or embroider starts life as a blank garment from a UK trade supplier. Sizing therefore follows the brand of that particular blank rather than one house standard, which is why a Large hoodie and a Large polo can fit differently.
Each product page carries a fit note telling you how that specific garment runs. This page tells you how to read it, and how to get exact figures out of us before you commit.
Adult sizes run XS to 2XL, with a handful of styles also cut in 2XS. Kids and junior pieces are sized by age. We do not currently carry adult sizes above 2XL.
How To Measure
Measure a garment you already own and like the fit of, laid flat on a table. It is far more reliable than measuring yourself, and it is how trade size charts are written, so the numbers compare directly.
- Chest. Lay it flat and measure straight across from armpit to armpit, then double it.
- Body length. From the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
- Sleeve. From the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
- Waist. For joggers and trousers, measure the waistband flat and double it.
- Inside leg. From the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to the hem.
Use a soft tape and keep it flat, not pulled tight.
How Each Range Runs
| Range | How it fits |
|---|---|
| Unisex tees and hoodies | Straight cut through the body. Take your normal size, or size up if you want it relaxed. |
| Men's fit | Regular. Take your normal size; size up for a looser look. |
| Women's fit | Shaped through the waist. True to size. |
| Oversized and cropped | Cut deliberately large or short already. Take your normal size — sizing up makes it very oversized. |
| Workwear, scrubs and hi-vis | Cut to go over what you are already wearing. Take your normal size unless you layer heavily underneath. |
| Junior and kids | Sized by age rather than body measurement. If they are between sizes, take the larger. |
Kids' Sizing
Most junior garments are sized by age and labelled that way. Where a kids' item uses S, M and L instead, the product page gives the age range it maps to — our kids' hi-vis vests, for example, run S for roughly 3–6 years, M for 6–9 and L for 9–12.
Children grow. If you are buying for a school year rather than for right now, take the larger size.
Caught Between Two Sizes?
As a rule: size up for hoodies, sweatshirts and anything worn over other layers. Stay true to size for tees, polos and fitted womenswear. Size down only on items described as oversized.
Want The Exact Measurements?
Every blank we use comes with a manufacturer's measurement chart. Tell us which product and which size you are weighing up, and we will send you the exact chest, length and sleeve figures for that garment before you order.
Email info@customdrops.co.uk and we will usually come back the same working day. It costs us nothing and it saves you the hassle of a size you cannot return.
Sizing On Personalised Items
This matters more than it does on plain stock. Once you approve your proof, a personalised item is exempt from change-of-mind returns under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — we cannot resell a hoodie with someone else's name on it.
So please settle the size before you approve the proof. If there is any doubt, ask us first. We would far rather answer a question than turn down a return.
Full detail is in our refund policy.
